Identity verification

Every member verifies their identity with a photo of a government ID and a live selfie. This check is run by Stripe, Inc. (Stripe Identity). Stripe collects and processes the images and the information on your ID under Stripe’s privacy policy, and may use biometric technology to compare your selfie with your ID photo. Encore does not receive or store the images or any biometric data. We receive whether the check passed, the reason if it didn’t, and your date of birth.

Automated photo checks

To keep Encore safe, each photo you add is checked automatically before it appears on your profile, using an AI model provided by Anthropic, PBC (Claude). The check looks for a clearly visible face in your first photo and for content that breaks our rules, such as children, nudity, weapons or screenshots. Photos that fail are deleted. Anthropic processes the photos only to provide the check; under its commercial terms it does not train its models on them.

How we use your information

What other members see

Your first name, age, city, photos, prompt answer, the facts you shared (divorce status, kids, what you’re looking for, your weekend line), badges such as Founding member or Decree verified, an approximate distance, and whether you were active recently. If you match, they also see your messages. They never see your email, exact location, verification details or reports.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your information or share it for advertising. We share it only with companies that help us run Encore, under contracts that limit their use of it:

ProviderWhat they do
SupabaseHosts our database, accounts and photos.
StripeIdentity verification.
AnthropicAutomated photo checks.
ExpoDelivers push notifications and app updates.
ResendSends account emails.
CloudflareHosts our website and forwards email to our support inbox.
Apple, Google and RevenueCatProcess in-app purchases, when available.
Mapbox or Open-MeteoTurn the city name you type into a location (only the search text is sent).

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or as part of a sale or merger of our business (in which case this policy continues to apply).

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, photos, likes, matches, and messages you sent. We may keep records of reports and removals for up to [PERIOD] to keep removed people from coming back, and limited records where the law requires. If you joined the waitlist, email us to be removed from it.

Your choices and rights

Security

We use access controls so members can read only what they’re allowed to, encrypted connections, and providers with strong security practices. No system is perfect; if we ever learn of a breach affecting you, we will notify you as the law requires.

Age

Encore is only for adults 30 and over. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone younger, and verification is designed to keep them out.

Changes

If we make a significant change, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
